The cover fits perfectly...when new. I bought the previous one - exactly the same - about 2 years ago, and I use it every day, sometimes more than one time per day opening it to read. When new, the battery on the Kindle would last weeks. Recently, the cover is a little looser, the binding is frayed. I think - I don't know, but I can't find any other reason - battery life is down to a few days. I think the cover just doesn't close to 'tell' the kindle to turn off. After putting the new one on - just a few days ago - battery went from 100% to 92% in 4 days...so it is back to normal. Not sure why the old cover wearing out would affect the battery life so much.
